The Montessori grammar symbols are color-coded shapes that represent different parts of speech. They help children understand and construct grammatically sound sentences and promote a deeper understanding of language structure through a visual, concrete approach.
In Montessori, children study and analyze how words function and where they appear in sentences. Then each word is labeled with a symbol representing the appropriate part of speech. These symbols are called grammar symbols.
The following parts of speech are included: article, adjective, verb, conjunction, preposition, adverb, pronoun, and interjection.
